Hybrid cloud-enabled "Water Quality Tracking System" solution
The Water Quality Tracking System, based on the IoTOS.Suite, is the result of a collaboration with optical sensor manufacturer TriOS GmbH and the Fraunhofer IOSB.
Safe access to clean water is becoming more and more important worldwide and water is an increasingly vital resource. In order to develop suitable solutions for these future markets, information and its exchange play a decisive role. The consortium has developed its hybrid cloud-compatible Water Quality Tracking System using the OGC SensorThings API, the FROST Server from the Fraunhofer IOSB, and the IoTOS.Suite. The FROST Server is the result of the Fraunhofer Institute’s contributions to international organizations such as the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) and GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of Systems).
The Water Quality Tracking System includes data visualization based on the regular or continuous acquisition of measured values, e.g. nitrate, nitrite, organic substances (CODeq, BODeq, DOCeq, TOCeq) etc., by the TriOS optical sensors via an IoT gateway. The data can be used for monitoring the status of water quality in rivers, lakes, and oceans. In the future, hybrid cloud-enabled applications for managing drinking water and wastewater treatment plants will also be offered.
