Serial number-controlled production - an important lever for process optimization

ONCITE DPS Serialize Control is a software service component of the Batch Production module. It ensures accurate product tracking and precise, serial number-based production control.

Despite the high level of automation in production, many manual interventions and checks are necessary - especially in transfer processes between machines, goods movements and assembly processes. With ONCITE DPS Serialize Control, production processes can be controlled in near real time via bidirectional communication between product and system, components can be tracked and quality can be analyzed during the ongoing process. In terms of active quality improvement and production optimization, Serialize Control thus allows event-driven controlling of the respective production process or the associated flow of goods in production, depending on the serial number.

Rittal controls production processe

More quality through serial number-controlled production

Rittal is switching to serialized production at its RGS plant. On the one hand, the components are provided with a unique ID (serial number) and on the other hand, the production processes are safeguarded by serialized product identification with automated system parameterization and seamless production documentation. GEC works closely with Schuler Pressen GmbH (part of the Andritz Group) as a partner. Using Andritz's own Metris Serialization solution and GEC's integrated Track & Trace solution, each pressed part is provided with its own ID. Using ONCITE DPS Serialize Control and the relevant serial number, production processes and flows of goods are controlled even more precisely.

  • Improved product quality
  • Reduction of rejects
  • Fewer production downtimes
  • Maximum transparency along the value chain

Increase quality and avoid error chains

Active traceability in production reduces downtime and the risk of errors

With ONCITE DPS Serialize Control, production is serialized and, depending on the data collected, allows planned intervention in production (active traceability). Components can be tracked in near real time and quality data can be recorded directly.

ONCITE DPS Serialize Control enables precise production control through event-driven controlling based on the data associated with the serial number. Each manufactured part from the production order is given a unique ID (serial number), which is linked to the ERP data record in ONCITE DPS. These serial numbers are applied directly to components, pallets or containers using laser markers or inkjet printers, which guarantees complete traceability and quality assurance throughout the entire production process. Serialize Control also allows synchronous, bidirectional communication between the systems and the serialized component as well as active production-related control of manufacturing (e.g. process interlocking in the event of a fault).

Your benefits:

  • Increase in overall equipment effectiveness
  • Improved part quality, fewer rejects
  • Clear error identification and targeted measures to prevent errors
  • Reduced production costs thanks to immediate ejection of faulty parts
  • Seamless connection to the customer's ERP/MES
  • Full transparency of produced goods
  • Counterfeit protection
